Stargate Atlantis Fic: Three Seconds and an Invitation :) Title: Three Seconds and an Invitation Fandom: Stargate Atlantis Pairing: John/Rodney Warnings/Spoilers: None, worksafe. No spoilers. Rating: PG Word Count: ~5,240 Summary: John doesn’t do holidays, but Rodney thinks maybe he can change his mind. Notes: So this was supposed to be a nice, quick little Christmas fic, but it kind of got away from me. XD;; I hope you enjoy it though—I’ve had something along these lines in the back of my mind for a while, and now seemed as good a time as any to play around with it. :D (I also feel as though I should point out that hitome_bore would have done an amazing job betaing this, given had I given her the chance. ^_~ But I was impatient, so... Any mistakes here are completely my own. ^^;) Anyway. Comments and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. ^_~ (x-posted to mckay_sheppard) ( Three Seconds and an Invitation ) Current Mood: accomplished |

Babby News
Julie and I went to see the doc yesterday to confirm if our baby is a boy (because I'm 99.9% sure after watching the ultrasound). Without further ado, I am happy to announce that we will be expecting a healthy baby boy come May. So far the doc is giving him a clean bill of health with only the diabetes test left to pass. It's all coming by so fast that we're feeling pinched for time. We've started stocking up on diapers yesterday and the baby room project suddenly became top priority. Current Mood: happy |

Four Days
I hear being in malls, shops and etc is pure madness. Guess more and more people are doing the last minute thing this year. We had a small budget for gifts this year so we fell back on baking. Well Julie did all the baking, designing and wrapping while the dogs and I ate the broken/rejected pieces. It all worked out. As if, actually I took a few days off work to finish up the house. Got all the painting done and only some minor ceiling repair is left. Well see if I can push to finish it or patch it up at least. We're doing the traditional family mid-night dinner at my house this year. Since we didn't get any turkey during thanksgiving I'm putting it on the menu. I also want to make a crown roast as a secondary dish because we love our protein. Then some roasted vegetables and salad on the side. Followed by pecan pie for dessert. That should do it I think. Sometimes I think I'm too easily amused.
Reason #1: Finding the name John Shepard while reviewing a list of employees (at some accounting firm) made me grin like an idiot for about 5 minutes straight. In fact, I'm still smiling about it now. XD;; (And yeah, I know it's spelled different. And that John's not an accountant. At least not in this universe. =D) Reason #2: On that same list, was one Robert Hewlett. 8D (I actually found that before I found the John Shepard. It's not nearly as exciting, but close enough. *cough* :P) Reason #3: Realizing today that my current primary care physician's name is Samantha Weir. XDDD (I actually found this out last year, but since I hadn't watched SGA yet, it wasn't as amusing to me then as it is now. :P) There's a pattern here, there really is. Anyway. .........As you can see, I have clearly lost my mind. I blame expense reports. *sob* ;__; *rushes off* :P P.S. And if you don't understand why any of that is funny, it probably means you need to go and watch Stargate Atlantis. And so...you should. *nodnodnodnod* 8D Current Mood: dorky |

New Moon
On Friday movie night, Julie and I finally went to see her Twilight: New Moon movie. When I stepped into the theater I had one of those deer in headlights moment, felt like I was in the wrong place. The entire audience consisted of little girls, teens and women. Sank down into my chair and tried to be nondescript. Then I saw two other dudes trailing behind their S/O and I didn't feel as weird. But yeah the movie wasn't so great. Didn't feel like there was much story behind it and that lead girl was such a bad actress. I hear the general consensus was that the books are much much better than the movies. Current Mood: blah |

New Wheels
Picked up the car last Thursday and spent all weekend getting acquainted. It took a while to get used to the resistive acceleration pedal and the weird new feeling of all wheel drive. The turns are surprisingly tight (for a long car) -- no fishtailing or body roll on the sharp curves. The car came with some nice standard features; Julie enjoyed the seat warmers the best while I loved fiddling with the trip computer. I did have a bit of an issue when it came time to refill the gas. I had trouble locating the fuel release lever. I even pulled out the manual and the diagrams weren't helping. I held up the line for ten minutes looking for the bloody thing with no luck. Drove to a parking lot and it took another fifteen minutes to find it under the snow mat. On dog news: Thursday night I was trying to get Molly and Lego into the back so that we could all go and pick up Julie. Molly got in with no problems but Lego wouldn't. I even went as far as to carry him on but he jumped off as soon as I let him go. So I brought him back into the house and he watched Molly and I drive off. Last night we went for a second attempt to get them both in the car. I figured we'd bribe him with cookies this time. Molly jumped in happily, shortly followed by Lego with no prompting. Then I remembered the look on his face when we left him behind and I started laughing. I did give them both good praises and cookies for getting on. Guess the new car is also dog approved.
